What is the Medication Management Resource Center?

This resource center will provide valuable information on prescription drugs, their coverage by key insurers, CMS resources for Medicare Part D, patient financial assistance for drugs as well as medication safety tips. The indications and dosing for the top 300 drugs dispensed in the US can be reviewed by drug name. In addition, links to all key NC state, federal and commercial drug formularies are highlighted so a patient or provider can better understand where a drug is placed on a formulary, other drug choices, generic alternatives or less expensive options. Specifically, there are links to NC Medicaid, NC Healthchoice, NC State Employees, TriCare, Aetna, BCBS NC, Cigna, UHC, Coventry Wellpath and First Carolina Care to name a few. Healthcare providers can also find helpful links to understand the step therapy and prior authorization guidelines from key NC insurers. NC Seniors and interested parties can find links to NC approved Medicare Part D formularies as well as the helpful "Drug Finder" and "Plan Finder" resource developed by CMS. These CMS tools can assist seniors in making the optimal choice for their Medicare Part D insurer. There are also links to help identify select financial resources that a uninsured or underinsured patient may be eligible for to help offset the rising cost of prescription drugs. Important tips to promote patient's safety in filling or taking a prescription medication are highlighted. In addition, there are helpful links to assist healthcare providers in avoiding medical errors.
