What is the Consumer: Wellness Promotion and Disease Awareness Resource
Center?
It is
critical that as healthcare consumers we are informed on wellness and
immunization preventive health guidelines as well as being aware of our
propensity to develop various diseases and understand the risk factors we may
be able to avoid with the goal of improving our health. In Section 1, we invite
you to the Interactive Preventive Tool designed by the Preventive Services Task
Force (AHRQ.) You will input your age, sex and pregnancy status and then
receive specific feedback with direct recommendations on a customized action
plan to make certain you are adhering to key national recommendations tied to
guidelines designed to promote good health. Section 2 focuses on the various
resources that NC health insurers offer and cover in terms of preventive
services. There are also tips for enhancing communication with your provider
through "Ask Me Three" approach.
In addition, there is critically
important information available on important disease risk factors, progression,
prevention and treatment options. Topics covered include allergies, alcoholism,
rheumatoid and osteo arthritis, asthma, bi-polar, cancer (breast, cervical,
colon, lung, ovarian, prostate, skin and uterine,) COPD, CKD,
dementia/alzheimers, depression, diabetes (Type 1, Type 2,), heart disease
(CAD, heart failure, stroke,) hepatitis C, migraines, obesity, osteoporosis and
sinusitis.
